I received a new XB8 router and fired it up two days ago. Replacing an XB7 I have encountered the usual hiccups and need to re-connect some apps and hardware including all my pods, smart home lights and alike. The TV players seems to reconnect quite well.

I set my router to display only one name for all three bands. 2.4Ghz, 5.0 GHz and 6.0Ghz as I did before and was quite pleased with download performance. I was especially pleased how my new M2 iPad Pro connected to 6Ghz with download speeds up to 1550Mbps. Upload speeds remain 100Mbps - very nice!

I anticipate a couple days for everything to settle down. This is normal for such a big change as replace the modem router. The modem itself is a little more chunkier that the XB7 but keeps most of the styling of the XB7. Because I already had Fibre Gig 1.5 there was no charge. Thanks Shaw.

Black Friday for me always brings an opportunity for an equipment refresh and certainly this year was no exception. 😁
