Sometimes you may need to restart your security or doorbell cameras to resolve a technical issue. You can do this in the Ignite HomeConnect (Shaw) app or manually. If this doesn't fix your issue, you may be prompted to factory reset your device.

Restart your camera or doorbell from the Ignite HomeConnect app

The easiest way to restart your security or doorbell camera is with the Ignite HomeConnect (Shaw) app. If your device is offline, it won't be available in the app and you may need to do a physical restart or reset.

  1. Open the Ignite HomeConnect (Shaw) app on your mobile device.
    • Sign in with your Shaw ID and password if you're not already signed in.
  2. Select the Home tab.
  3. Choose the thumbnail for the camera you want to restart.
  4. Scroll down to More Info and then select Restart Camera or Restart Doorbell.

Reset your security camera

If you're unable to restart your Ignite Indoor/Outdoor Camera (Wired)TM through the Ignite HomeConnect (Shaw) app, you can try unplugging your camera to force it to reboot. If nothing else solves your issue, you may be prompted to try a factory reset.

Important: Don't press the grey button on the power adapter. If you do, we may have to book a technician's visit to bring the camera back online.

Power cycle

This is the simplest way to physically restart your camera.

  1. Unplug power adapter from power outlet.
  2. Wait 30 seconds.
  3. Plug the power adapter back in.

Factory reset

In rare cases, you may need to perform a factory reset on the device. This should only be used when instructed to do so, as it will deactivate your camera and you'll need to redo the activation process in the app.

  1. Take a pin and push it into the small reset hole on the front of the power adapter.

    • Alternatively, you can rotate the camera a quarter turn on its stand to expose a large reset button that you can hold down with your finger.
  2. Hold for 15 seconds.
  3. If successful, the status light should begin flashing white after the device finishes its restart.
    • If this doesn't happen, please repeat the steps from the beginning.
  4. Once the white status light is flashing, follow the instructions on How to activate an Ignite Self Protect device in the Ignite HomeConnect app to reactivate your camera.

Reset your doorbell camera

  2. Locate the small hole on the top and insert a pin or paperclip to press and release the button (do not hold).
