How to connect your Nintendo Switch to Shaw in-home WiFi
  1. Select System Settings from the HOME Menu.

  1. Select Internet.
  2. Select Internet Settings.
    • The Nintendo Switch will search automatically for nearby WiFi signals.

  1. When you see the list of available networks, select the network to which you are trying to connect.
    • If you are unable to find your network's name, move your Nintendo Switch closer to your Shaw modem or third party router, and press the Y button to search again.
    • If the network name is greyed out, this indicates that the network uses a type of security that is not supported by the Nintendo Switch.
    • If you are still unable to locate your network, this may indicate that your wireless network is not working properly.
  2. When prompted, use the on-screen keyboard to enter the WiFi network's password (unless the network is open and does not require a password).
    • If you are using a Shaw wireless modem you will be able to find your network password by looking at the white sticker on the top of that modem*

  1. The Nintendo Switch will test the Internet connection for you. Once the test is complete, select OK to complete the process. 
    • If the connection test fails, an error code and message will appear which may help to diagnose and correct the connection problems.



*If you have customised your network name (SSID) and password, and can no longer remember the login credentials, you will need to restore your wireless modem to the default settings.

How to connect your Nintendo Switch to Shaw Go WiFi

In order to connect your Nintendo Switch to Shaw Go WiFi, you will need to add it to your Shaw account. You can do this as follows:

First, you will need to obtain your Switch's MAC address.

  1. From the HOME Menu, select System Settings.

  1. The console's MAC address will be listed under System MAC Address.


You can then add the MAC address to your Shaw Internet account by following the instructions here.

Once the Switch has been added to your account it will connect automatically to Shaw Go WiFi whenever you encounter a Shaw Go WiFi hotspot.
