Before you begin

If you are connecting both a Shaw 4K Wireless TV Player and a Fibre+ Gateway, activate the Fibre+ Gateway first using the instructions found here. Your Gateway should be online with a solid white light and have working WiFi, before you proceed.

What's included

A remote, power cord, and an HDMI cable are included with your Wireless 4K BlueCurve TV Player. If something is missing from your kit, please let us know.

Connecting your Shaw 4K Wireless TV Player

Before you start, choose a place for your TV Player. Make sure it's located:

  • Close to your TV and an electrical outlet.
  • Within range of your WiFi signal.
  • Off the ground in a space that allows free airflow around it.
  1. Connect the HDMI cable from your Wireless TV player's HDMI TV port to one of your TV’s open HDMI IN ports. Make note of which HDMI port you select on your TV. If you have a 4K TV please use a 4K compatible HDMI port to ensure the highest quality for your video. 
    1. Turn on your TV and adjust to the same HDMI input you selected in the previous step, using the remote that came with your TV.
    2. Connect the power cord to the back of your Wireless TV player and an electrical outlet.

If you are not seeing the Welcome screen on your TV, confirm you are on the same input that you confirmed in Step 1 a, by using the ‘Input’ or ‘Source’ button on your TV’s original remote.

Activating your Shaw 4K Wireless TV Player

  1. Activation can take up to 15 minutes and your Wireless TV Player may automatically reboot during that time. Any firmware updates will be installed once it is powered up. If you want to place your player somewhere out of sight (eg. In a cabinet) wait until after activation is complete and your voice activated remote is fully paired. 
  2. Complete the setup of your Wireless TV Player by following the steps below:
    1. Remove the plastic pull-tab from the back of your Shaw Voice Remote.
    2. When prompted, choose your preferred language.
    3. When your TV displays “Setup complete”, press OK on the remote.
    4. Follow the on-screen prompts to name your Wireless TV Player and program your remote.
    5. Within a few moments, you should see your channels and can connect your streaming subscriptions.

Frequently asked questions

I see an error on the screen during the activation process.
There might be a specific reason and a quick solution based on the error code that appears on the screen. Read Troubleshooting common Shaw TV error codes for more information.

What does it mean if the light on the box is blinking fast?
This will occur if there is an error. Read Troubleshooting common Shaw TV error codes for more information. If the error code is not listed, contact Shaw customer support.

Where should I place my Shaw 4K Wireless TV Player?
Place your TV Player in a visible, well-ventilated area in a central location in your home, near an electrical outlet. If you think your wireless signal is weak, move your TV Player closer to your Fibre+ Gateway.

What if I need a stronger WiFi signal?
Make sure your Fibre+ Gateway is located in a central spot in your home to get the best possible WiFi coverage. Shaw Fibre+ WiFi Pods are available if you need WiFi in those hard to reach places. You can also try moving your Shaw 4K Wireless TV Player closer to your Fibre+ Gateway for a better signal.

How do I use my Shaw Voice Remote?
Press and hold the microphone button. When the word "Listening" appears onscreen, talk into your Shaw Voice Remote. Release the microphone button to submit your voice command.

How can I access my Netflix, YouTube and Amazon Prime Video accounts?
Press and hold the microphone button on your Shaw Voice Remote. Say "Netflix", "YouTube" or "Prime Video" to open the app. You may need to follow on-screen instructions to sign into those services.

My remote control isn’t responding to any button commands during activation/setup. What do I do?
When naming your device or selecting your preferred language the remote control can sometimes be unresponsive. If this occurs, please try holding down the setup button and watch the led light at the top of the remote turn from red to green. Then enter 9 8 1.
